Martial Ways Of Perseverance

Laws Of The Ninja

  • Know the wisdom of being patient during times of inactivity and realize that perseverance is but a brief moment in time.
  • This one says, we must be patient and even when things are not going the way we expected them to, we must persevere and keep going, this too shall pass. There's a reason for everything that happens in your life and it may not always be a good one.

  • Choose the course of justice as the path for your life.
  • To follow a path of justice is not always easy, however, it will keep you honest in both your training and in your own life. Heart Justice is not the same as personal vendetta, before you go out and issue justice on others, you must first unleash it upon yourself, check yourself always, if not you, then who.

  • Do not allow your heart to be controlled by the demands of greed (desire), comfort (pleasure) or reliance (dependence).
  • To have a desire in and of itself is not a bad thing, its only when you find yourself wanting and needing more than you deserve is when it brings you trouble. When you become too attached to something, it can have a negative effect on your body, mind and spirit. The important thing is to be real and honest with yourself, only then can your heart be free.

  • Consider sorrow, pain and anger to be natural consequences to be found in nature therefore, work to cultivate an immovable spirit (fudoshin). These too, are gifts from the gods.
  • What can we say, sorrow, pain and anger, we all have experienced these, the key is to understand the nature behind them. Is it possible to look at these as gifts ? Suffering brings us closer to ? Yea, I think there's some truth to it but not always are they gifts, sometimes they are forms of punishment for your wicked deeds, you just have to take your Ukemi and keep growing.

  • Hold steady in your heart the importance of family loyalty and aspire deeply to the pursuit of both literary and martial arts with balanced determination.
  • Holding steady is another way of saying "Keep Going" and when it comes to family, there can be no greater deed then to endure the connections with the people that matter most to you. This also ties into training in a balanced way and looking beyond the physical techniques. Being part of a Buyu (Warrior Family) involves trust and responsibility, it also requires the ability to give up the things we think we want the most in order to preserve that what we know to be real and true. These are very necessary for survival, learn from your mistakes and from the mistakes of others.
